AI creates non-stop death metal

Even after weeks of uninterrupted death metal, the Death Metal band Dadabots do not bleed their fingers, because their music springs from an artificial intelligence. The software SampleRNN was developed by CJ Carr and Zack Zukowski, who studied together at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

The paper by Carr and Zukowski describes SampleRNN as a recurrent neural network that has learned its pattern based on a few seconds of death metal snippets and now reproduces the learned sequentially.

The result can be heard on the Dadabots YouTube channel 24 hours a day, seven days a week, if you feel ready for such a high death metal dose. Carr and Zukowski aim to remove the human factor from the Black Metal equation.

The result does not sound human – after all it is not – but sometimes faster than a human could play the guitar and without understandable lyrics. However, the AI has achieved the class goal of producing Death Metal.

The bot is based on the Canadian band Archspire. Unlike previous attempts with other bands, the stream did not destabilize after a short time, but reliably produces its death metal. The software runs on a Linux server in the US state of South Carolina and plays and plays and plays.
