Google Arcore: now meet three-dimensional animals in life-size directly to your home or office

Published on

How the virtual animals integrate into the real environment? Well, that’s true. Now, the three-dimensional animals in life size can be brought with a mobile phone directly to your home or office.

On Android, the Google Arcore app is required to view the animals in Augmented Reality mode. For iOS, the Safari browser must be used.

And so it goes:

1. Open a browser of your choice (on Android, on iOS it only works with Safari).
2. Search Google for any search term.
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Settings.
4. Touch Search Settings.
5. Then tap Add another language.
6. Activate the option English.
7. Tap Save.
8. Confirm the message that appears with Okay.
9. Now search Google for an animal (for example, tiger, wolf, shark, cat, dog, panda) and scroll down a bit.
10. On the English search page, tap on the entry View in 3D.

Note: This feature is not officially available in every country yet. The procedure shown above is a trick, so it works anyway.

What does Google want with it?

The goal of the Augmented Reality elements in Google Search is above all to give a sense of scale and details, writes the employee responsible for this area in a blog entry. It’s one thing to read about how big a shark can become. However, to see him in relation to his own surroundings is something completely different.

But it is also possible that Google is working to introduce new business models in the field of augmented reality. Because the company works together with companies such as New Balance, Volvo and Samsung. If you wanted to buy new shoes, you could see them directly as a 3-D model and interact with it.

New Lens functions

Also with the so-called Google Lens one will receive additional possibilities. For example, you could hold the cell phone over a menu and then click on a dish to learn more. Among other things, then reviews from other customers are displayed.

As you know it from the Translate app, Google Lens also translates texts in foreign languages directly. More than 100 languages are offered, writes the search engine giant.

There will also be a new function for the approximately 800 million adults who have difficulty reading forms or the bus timetable. So Google Lens can also read out written texts. However, this is first offered at the so-called Google Go, an app for mobile phones that cost less than 50 francs.
