Foods to maintain good liver health naturally

Published on

The liver is an extremely important organ in our body, weighing about 3 pounds has a direct impact on our well-being.

Some foods are capable of stimulating the work of this organ and keeping our body healthy. Today, we tell you what they are.

The liver has an essential function in our body: to filter all the substances that enter and leave it. This organ also plays a role in the breakdown of nutrients in food and their distribution, as well as in maintaining good blood circulation.

In addition, it processes toxins such as alcohol, medications, and natural by-products of metabolism.

The health of the liver affects the functioning of the entire body. Similarly, problems in other parts of the body can impact the liver. A balanced diet is essential to maintain a healthy liver, but some foods, in particular, contribute especially to the proper functioning of this organ.

Garlic

Fresh garlic has alliin, which is transformed into allicin when the food is minced, ground or crushed. This substance has high antioxidant, antibiotic and antifungal capacities, and acts as a hepatoprotector. Allicin increases the levels of glutathione peroxidase and catalase in the livers, enzymes that, among other things, prevent the aging of liver tissue.

In addition, garlic acts on the functioning of the gallbladder, by preventing the formation of stones and, therefore, facilitating the functioning of the liver.

Green Tea

Green tea is a drink that is widely considered beneficial for the functioning of our body, but studies have shown that it can have a particularly positive effect on liver health.

An investigation with the participation of people with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis fat-inflammation of the liver not related to the consumption of alcohol revealed that regular consumption of green tea is able to improve the levels of liver enzymes as well as help reduce oxidative stress and fat deposits in the liver.

Another study revealed that people who consume green tea frequently are less likely to develop liver cancer.

Artichoke

Artichoke is known to increase bile production, which helps to remove harmful toxins from the liver. Artichoke leaf extract is considered to be able to protect the liver from damage and promote the growth of new liver tissue.

In addition, scientists believe that cynarin and silymarin, antioxidants found in artichokes, can significantly help in the functioning of this organ.

Vegetables and green leaves

Although they are low in calories, green vegetables and greens are rich in nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

Vegetable fiber helps cleanse the body of toxins and eliminate them.

Already hepatocytes, present in most plant products, are the basic components of liver cells and contribute to the renewal and restoration of the liver.
