Tesla destroys the forecasts (again) after delivering 367,500 electric cars during 2019, 50% more than in 2018

Elon Musk had with Tesla 2019 to frame, and after the rugged start of the year, the company was able to recover in an impressive way, demonstrating that Musk’s controversial decisions during the first months paid off, and what a fruit!

Today the company is making its usual announcement prior to its delivery of quarterly results, where it confirms that during the last fourth quarter of 2019, they delivered 112,000 electric cars. This is a very important figure that exceeds the forecasts that pointed to 104,960 units.

A record number was driven by the successful Model 3

In total, Tesla is closing 2019 with the delivery of 367,500 electric cars. That is an increase of 50% compared to 2018 deliveries and more than the previous two years together.

In fact, the figure of 112,000 electric cars delivered during the last three months of 2019 is a new record for Tesla, which continues to increase its production rate as promised by Elon Musk when the year began.

Here the real star has been the Model 3, which has stolen the prominence of the company and has catapulted not only the figures but also the valuation and the actions. Of the 112,000 cars delivered, 92,550 were only from Model 3, while 19,450 were for the mix of Model S and Model X.

After this announcement, the company’s actions took off and at the time of writing this post already show an increase of 4.5%. But the important thing here is the future, as Tesla seeks to maintain and increase the pace of 2019, something that will benefit from the recent opening of Gigafactory Shanghai.

The new Shanghai Gigafactory will be decisive for Tesla’s future, short and medium, since last December 30, they delivered their first electric car, an important feat less than 12 months after the construction of this factory began.

According to Tesla, Gigafactory Shanghai has already produced 1,000 electric cars and currently has a capacity of 3,000 cars a week. Currently, deliveries are being made to employees of Tesla itself in China, but as of January 7, they will begin with deliveries to the general public.

It is expected that at the end of January, on a date yet to be defined, Tesla will deliver its financial results where we will have more details of its performance during 2019.
