Apple revealed today that Microsoft’s phenomenally popular block-building survival game Minecraft is coming to the Apple TV device before the end of 2016.
Now that Minecraft is on Apple TV, it’s nearly impossible to find a major platform that does not have its own version of the game. Mojang originally released it for PC before porting it to iOS, Android, Xbox 360, and then every other console since.
At the Electronic Entertainment Expo tradeshow in June, Microsoft revealed its plans to unify the Minecraft experience across each device through Xbox Live. And by getting Minecraft on AppleTV, that’s one more place where Microsoft can start getting consumers into its account ecosystem.
