The Rising of the Shield Hero

The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime

The popular plot of a hero fighting the odds that stand in his way could not miss this list of best anime of 2019, right? The Rising of the Shield Hero tells the story of Iwatani Naofumi, chosen to join the team of four heroes responsible for legendary weapons. The bad part of this story comes from the fact that Iwatani was chosen to be the hero of the shield, which prevents him from fighting alone, since holding the shield prevents him from wielding other weapons.

Given the difficulties faced by the hero of the shield, there is a certain prejudice between society and those chosen for this role. Therefore, Naofumi must bear the burden of protecting a society that despises him.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fullmetal Alchemist - Brotherhood Anime

Although released in 2009, this second version of Fullmetal Alchemist continues to be widely acclaimed, making it a strong contender for the best anime list.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood tells the story of two brothers (Edward and Alphonse) who tried to alter the past to bring a loved one back and failed, which almost cost their own lives. After this event, they will try their best to recover what was lost during the attempt.

Edward and Alphonse live in Amestris, a continent that lives under constant wars and where people can do alchemy (which in itself makes the anime very interesting). The brothers seek the philosopher’s stone, capable of increasing the powers of anyone who has it, and face high adventures during this quest.

Death note

Death Note Anime

Of course, one of the most famous titles in otaku culture could not fail to join our list of best anime of 2019, although it has been released for quite some time, simply because of its relevance.

Death Note tells the story of Light, a young man who eventually finds a black cover notebook. Thinking it is a joke, Light finds that by writing someone’s name in the notebook, the person actually dies.

Although at first the discovery of the book startled Light, the young man later saw it as a good tool to take the lives of every criminal in the world.

After a while, Light finds a Shinigami (a kind of god of death) who owns the notebook and is happy to find out how it is being used. Who is not happy (as expected) with the deaths is the police, who do everything to find out who is the author behind them and assembles a great investigative team.

If you’re the type who enjoys crime stories with a supernatural mix and hasn’t watched Death Note yet, it’s worth a try!
