Game of Thrones left us a few months ago after eight seasons of fire, ice, dragons and a lot of strategy to get an iron throne on which finally it would not be so easy to sit. Such was the hitch with the production that HBO and George RR Martin decided to work on some spin-offs of which we are knowing data, and the last thing that has been said is that there will be a prequel to ‘Game of Thrones’ based on the Targaryen.

The last thing we knew was about ‘Bloodmoon’, the provisional name of a project whose shooting would begin in Ireland and that would be a prequel to the story that moved to the screens. There was talk of up to four spin-offs, and what is now being talked about is another prequel that would take up at least one of the houses in the original story, unlike what Martin himself pointed out for ‘Bloodmoon’ (he told EW that “There is no King’s Landing. There is no Iron Throne. There is no Targaryens […]”).

300 years before all those “Dracarys”

Several media have confirmed a prequel that would be based on an era around 300 years before the plot that began with the successful original series based on Martin’s novels (which they will still be). The Hollywood Reporter specifies that it is the beginning of the Targaryen house, that of Daenerys, one of the main protagonists of ‘Game of Thrones’ (and the few that survived until the eighth season, in fact).

The script will be composed by Ryan Condal (screenwriter of ‘Project Rampage’ or ‘Colony’ among others) and George RR Martin himself, based on the novel Fire & Blood. A book that went on sale in 2018 and covers the definitive history of the Targaryen.

Thus, if the series goes ahead and is faithful to the book on which it is based, it would begin with the story of Aegon the Conqueror, who created the well-known iron throne and initiated a lineage to which Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), Viserys Targaryen belong (Harry Lloyd) and well, another well-known character that we do not say in case the spoilers .

In Deadline they give this information for good, adding that wars will be a main element in the adaptation of the novel to television. Something that would keep in common with the original series, in fact.

Since HBO they haven’t commented anything yet, so we’ll see if there is confirmation in the future. The idea is certainly attractive to the fans of the series, perhaps being able to clear many doubts of a very peculiar clan among the main characters of the plot, so we will see if it is confirmed later.
