The US military wants to be able to use a rocket to deliver 80 tons of cargo anywhere in the world within one hour.

SpaceX’s Falcon-9 space launch vehicles can be used by the US military for urgent transportation of cargo around the planet through space.

According to the sources, the U.S. Military Transportation Command is considering this possibility. The first such test could be conducted in 2021 as part of an agreement with SpaceX.

TRANSCOM Commander General Stephen Lyons said at a meeting of the US National Defense Association that the task is to be able to use a missile to deliver 80 tons of cargo carried by a heavy American C-17 military transport aircraft anywhere in the world within one hour.

Later, the TRANSCOM command clarified that the details of the project are still being worked out with SpaceX, but in any case, this implies the actual delivery of cargo from one place to another through space.

According to the U.S. experts, this would make it much easier for military cargo to be delivered to the interior of landlocked countries, including for the American troops stationed there.

Delivery of Cargo will not violate state borders, as it will be carried out through space. At the same time, in peacetime, it will be possible to avoid the traditional diplomatic agreements and permits for access and overflight necessary for the delivery of urgent military cargo.
