Catt Sadler shares surprising symptoms of Delta variant after catching Covid post-vaccination

“Delta is relentless and highly contagious and grabbed ahold of me even after getting vaccinated”

After contracting COVID-19 despite being properly vaccinated against the virus, Catt Sadler is encouraging people not to “let their guard down.”

The 46-year-old entertainment journalist caught COVID-19 after caring for an unvaccinated individual who had the virus and was first misdiagnosed as having the flu.

“I assumed I would be fine,” Sadler wrote on Instagram. “Well I’m not.”

Sadler claimed she’s at home and suffering from severe symptoms.

“Two days of a fever now. Head throbbing. Extreme congestion. Even some weird puss coming out of my eye. Serious fatigue; no energy to even leave the bed,” she said.

Though contracting COVID-19 after being completely vaccinated is uncommon, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warn it is feasible and “expected” because the vaccinations are not 100 percent effective against the virus.

Those cases, known as breakthrough infections, are usually asymptomatic, and those who have been completely vaccinated are considerably better protected against severe COVID-19 disease, which can lead to hospitalisation or death. According to the CDC, just 0.00003 percent of persons who have been completely vaccinated have been hospitalised with COVID-19.

According to Sadler, her condition is caused by the faster-spreading Delta variety, which has become the prevalent strain in the United States.

“Delta is relentless and highly contagious and grabbed ahold of me even after getting vaccinated,” she said.

People should continue to wear masks, according to Sadler.

“If you are not vaccinated and not wearing a mask, I assure you you don’t want to feel like this and not only are you bound to get sick eventually you’ll be spreading it to others,” she said.

If you are vaccinated, don’t let your guard down. If you’re in crowds or indoors in public I highly recommend taking the extra precaution of wearing a mask.

“I’m telling you this so that you understand that the pandemic is very much NOT over,” she explained.
