11 bizarre brands of Android phones that you may have never heard

Published on

Everyone knows brands of Android smartphones such as Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi or Nokia, but the more than 2.5 billion active devices include many other less known mobile brands.

In this article we will recover 11 brands of virtually unknown Android phones, at least outside their place of origin, with the most curious names and a slight explanation about what they offer and where they operate.

Bush

According to the Google Play developer console, there are a total of 17 devices of the Bush brand, an electronics brand owned by Sainsbury’s and famous for developing the first British radios. Some of their smartphones and tablets seem really manufactured by the French brand Archos.

They are for sale in the Argos catalog sale -which the company bought- although it is true that they seem to have focused more on tablets than on smartphones. One of the latest smartphones, in the previous photo, is the BUSH SPIRA B5.5, with 1 GB of RAM and Spreadtrum SC9832 processor.

Casper

It is not a friendly ghost, but a prolific brand of Turkish technology, with a large selection of models of smartphones, laptops, desktops, gamer laptops and tablets, with very current designs and specifications.

The Casper Via F3, in the previous photo, is one of its latest models, with drop-shaped notch on the 6.26-inch HD + screen, 12 MP + 13 MP + 2 MP triple rear camera, Helio P22 and 3 GB of RAM.

MobiiStar

It is pronounced almost the same as Movistar, but it is quite different. To start because it is a brand of cheap mobiles in India with about 30 models for sale. Its slogan is “better mobile phones below 10,000 rupees”, about 128 euros.

It is a company that embraces the notch like no other, as the model in the previous photo is the Mobiistar X1 Notch, one of its latest releases and that has a large notch on the screen of 5.7 “HD +, with simple cameras 13 MP front and rear and a price that starts at 88 euros at the exchange.

Positive

Always positive, never negative. It is not a Louis van Gaal brand, but a Brazilian technology brand that sells phones, tablets, laptops and desktops. The section of Android smartphones have it a bit abandoned, being the last one released with Android Oreo.

The previous photo is from one of its most current models, the Positive Twist 2 Fit with Spreadtrum SC7731E processor, 1 GB of RAM and 5.34 inch screen. On the back is the 8 MP camera and the company logo, a “like”.

Olive oil

Olive oil is very healthy, but in addition to accompanying salads it is also a Chinese brand of technology. At the moment they have not launched Android smartphones, but they dared with two tablets, Olive Oil CT4 (previous photo) and CT5.

The funny thing about these tablets is that they have a camera that rotates and automatically joins the photos you take to create a panoramic image. It is a tablet with 8-inch screen, factory Android 6.0 and 2 GB of RAM.

Nelson Mandela

Half brand and half licensed official product, the Google Play Developer Console lists at least three Nelson Mandela brand smartphones: Freedom 5.0, Freedom 5.2 and Freedom 5.5.

This is a collaboration of AG Mobile (an extinct brand of African smartphones), MediaTek and Nelson Mandela Long Walk to launch a total of seven inexpensive phones in South Africa, both feature phones and Android phones like the previous one.

Prize

Some prizes touch you and others you can buy. This is rather of the second type, a mobile from the Ackermans South African clothing store chain that, for some reason, also has its own line of Android mobiles.

The X1 Prize of the previous photo is a bit of a shameless copy of the iPhone X, although with a little less power, it has 2 GB of RAM and is based on Android Go. Its price is 80 euros at the exchange.

Prestige

From Prize we go to Prestigio, a Russian technology brand with an international presence in countries such as Croatia, Bosnia, Belarus, Egypt, Poland or the United Kingdom. Its products range from Android phones to tablets, GPS to the car, computers and smart keyboards.

They have more than a hundred Android devices in total, the most recent being the Prestigio S Max, with drop-shaped notch, 6.1 “HD + screen and triple rear camera with 13 MP main sensor.

Lifetime

Vida is a Singaporean brand whose vision is to provide products with the best value for money. They have both smartphones, routers and solutions for small businesses. As for Android phones, they have a handful of series, including the rugged.

One of the most current models, the Vida i512 (previous photo) has MediaTek MTK6580 processor, 1 GB of RAM and 5 megapixel cameras both front and rear.

Multilaser

There is only one thing better than a laser, and that is a lot of lasers. That’s just what you take home with the Multilaser brand, a Brazilian brand of technology with products such as Android phones, tablets, GPS and small appliances.

The Multilaser G Pro is one of the most current models, with a current design with drop-notch, 6.1 inch HD + screen, dual 13 + 2 MP rear camera, factory Android 9.0 and rear fingerprint reader.

Cream

We could not finish this article without mentioning the crème de la crème, the Crema brand. The truth is that we have not been able to find out much about it, although it seems to be a brand or perhaps a tablet model from South Korea.

Its official price is Euro 190 at the exchange rate and it seems a kind of mix of eBook reader, tablet and digitizing tablet, at least in some of its versions, as you can see in this video on YouTube.
