The Samsung Galaxy S11 will have, in addition to the 108 MP sensor, a 48 MP telephoto lens: this is the quality leap expected for these flagships.

The Samsung Galaxy S11 is officially bidding to become the next best camera phone on the market: apparently it will boast not only the main target from as many as 108 MP but also a 48 MP telephoto lens. In two sums, the Galaxy S11 will have nine times more megapixels than the cameras mounted on Samsung flagships in recent years.

Samsung Galaxy S11: the photo industry

Going into the detail of what, according to rumors, will be the rear cameras of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S11, it seems quite certain that the new Galaxy S series will be able to take photos with 5x zoom.

As for the rumours about the telephoto lens, let’s remember that the previous flagships of the South Korean giant, until now, had all employed a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor, to which was added with the top of the range of 2019 also an ultra-wide 16MP camera.

Considering the significant resolution jump that will occur with the main camera of the Samsung Galaxy S11, it seems logical to think that the South Korean manufacturer consequently also increases the megapixels of the other cameras: having a 108-megapixel main camera flanked by a telephoto lens of only 12 MP and an ultra-wide 16 MP may look a bit strange and unbalanced.

In general, however, the expectations for the new Samsung flagships that will be formalized in February are getting higher and higher, and now all three sensors are expected to be high resolution, in particular, the Galaxy S11, S11e and S11 + according to the well-known tipster Ice Universe, will have a telephoto lens with a resolution of no less than 48 MP. Detail that also raises questions about what consequences this qualitative leap of the photographic sector will have on the prices of the next Samsung flagships.

As for the ultra-wide,  there are not actually too demanding expectations, we are talking about the same 16 MP sensor mounted on the  Galaxy S10Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Fold range. To be sure, it will be necessary to wait for official confirmations from Samsung, even if there is still some time before the official debut of the devices on the market.
