Carrie Underwood, a country singer, has come under fire for ‘liking’ a tweet including an anti-mask video during the coronavirus pandemic.

Fans were taken aback when it was discovered that the American Idol star liked a conservative commentator’s post in which he expressed his displeasure with the Metropolitan Nashville Board of Public Education’s recent mask rule.

Matt Walsh noted in the video that forcing children to wear masks could be deemed “abusive,” which drew praise from the parents in attendance.

What if a parent forced his kid to wear a football helmet all day every day for fear of falling coconuts and meteors?’ he argued. ‘If you saw that, you would say he’s abusive.

Walsh also claimed that making children wear masks all day teaches them to believe ‘the air is toxic, that everyone around them is sick.’

The CDC recommends ‘universal indoor masking for all students (age 2 years and older), teachers, staff and visitors to K-12 schools regardless of vaccination status’ as a method of preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Fans on Twitter who noticed Underwood’s apparent endorsement of Walsh’s message immediately shared their surprise at her choice to like the video as one wrote: ‘It’s not just that Carrie Underwood liked an anti-mask tweet. It’s that Carrie Underwood liked an anti-mask tweet from Matt Walsh, one of those most negligently histrionic voices on the topic of protecting kids from COVID.’

‘Carrie Underwood being Anti Vaxx….anyways we still stan Kelly Clarkson forever the best winner of American Idol,’ another Twitter user commented.

One tweeted: ‘Dolly Parton help fund the Moderna vaccine to fight off covid Carrie underwood is helping spread anti mask & antivaxx misinformation Class vs trash.’

Carrie, who shares sons Isaiah, six, and two-year-old Jacob with husband Mike Fisher, has neither responded to the backlash nor ‘unliked’ the video.

However, Walsh wrote a series of tweets on the matter practically as soon as Underwood’s name began trending as he stated:

Carrie Underwood liked my video and now the mob is coming for her. She should know better than to like something that they don’t like. This is an unforgivable sin.

How long before Carrie Underwood officially renounces me? I give it 12 hours, tops,’ he tweeted, before back-tracking just in case she doesn’t. ‘I could be wrong though. I’m basing this on our general experience with celebrities who face public backlash from the left. In fairness, she could be the outlier. Time will tell.

Walsh sent out another sarcastic tweet as he wrote:

Like anyone else, I am upset and disturbed that Carrie Underwood liked one of my tweets.

She should know better than to indirectly endorse the opinions of an extremist and scoundrel such as myself. Her lack of judgment is appalling. I demand that she renounce me and apologize.
