Natasha reveals “a mundane reason for a breakup” with Fred Armisen

Natasha Lyonne has announced that she and Fred Armisen are no longer together, alleging that their relationship ended over a quarrel over swimming pools.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, after admitting that she and Armisen were living together in Los Angeles during the COVID outbreak, the actress disclosed that the two have now broken company.

“I honestly think we broke up because I wanted a swimming pool,” the “Russian Doll” 43-year-old star said.

“We love each other just about as much as two people can love each other and we’re still talking all the time, but Freddy doesn’t like a swimming pool. It might seem like a mundane reason for a breakup, but during that pandemic, you’ve got to get your laps — I’m like Burt Lancaster in ‘The Swimmer.’”

Lyonne has recently purchased her own home in Los Angeles, equipped with a pool.

“So that’s the real scandal,” the “Orange Is the New Black” alum jokingly added. “I guess I finally am an actual bicoastal.”

The actress and the 55-year-old “Saturday Night Live” star first met in 2014 when they both attended Lorne Michael’s pre-Emmys party at the Sunset Tower Hotel’s Tower Bar in West Hollywood.

Maya Rudolph, Armisen’s “SNL” co-star, introduced the two, according to Lyonne in a September 2019 Glamour cover story.

On the “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast in June 2016, Armisen admitted to being “a terrible husband” to his ex-wife Elisabeth Moss, to whom he had been married between 2009 and 2011.

From 1998 to 2004, he was married to singer Sally Timms.

The last time Lyonne and Armisen were seen together was at the Golden Globes in 2020.
