Apparently the battle between Taylor Swift and Kanye West is not over because while the singer surprised the world with the premiere of “Folklore”, the rapper forgot to release “Donda: With Child”.

On June 30, West announced a new single “Wash Us in the Blood”, along with Travis Scott, 18 days later revealed that his new album would be titled “Donda” (his mother’s name), which was recorded between Cabo San Lucas and Wyoming, and would contain 20 songs.

Despite the multiple changes in the tracklist, the title was always dedicated to his mom; Finally, after tweets against his wife Kim Kardashian and his family, the rapper deleted them and left the announcement in which he made the premiere date official: Friday, July 24.

However, the first hours of Friday passed and several Internet users began to wonder where the artist’s tenth studio album was. But there has been no response about this either on the 43-year-old producer’s Twitter account or through any other means.

For his part, Taylor Swift did everything at the last moment: from writing and recording the songs, to making the announcement of this new album both to her label and to her followers.

11 months ago Swift released “Lover”, her seventh album and a project that took more than six months to create. But on Thursday, July 23, through her Instagram account, the singer announced that at midnight “Folklore” her eighth LP would be available on all platforms.

“Most of the things I had planned this summer did not end up happening, but there is something I had not planned for to happen. And that’s my eighth studio album, ‘folklore’. Surprise. Tonight at midnight I will release all my new album of songs in which I have poured all my whims, dreams, fears and reflections,” said the 30-year-old singer.

The singer said that in addition to achieving in difficult time making music, she did it with admiring artists such as multi-instrumentalist of The National, Aaron Dessner and founder of Bon Iver, Justin Vernon.

I wrote and recorded this music in isolation, but I was able to collaborate with some of my musical heroes; @aarondessner (who has co-written or produced 11 of the 16 songs), @boniver (who co-wrote and was kind enough to sing one with me), William Bowery (who co-wrote two with me), and @jackantonoff (who is basically a family musical right now) ”, she added.

In addition, the singer reflected on the uncertainty of life, and why the moment in which we are living prompted her to publish the 16 songs.

“Before this year, I probably would have thought too much about when to release this music at the ‘perfect’ time, but the times we live in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed. My instinct tells me that if you do something you love, you should bring it out into the world. That is the side of uncertainty that I can deal with,” she explained.

For now, Swift’s work was well-received by both fans and critics. “Her emotional acuity was never so assured,” The Guardian said in a five-star review. “‘Folklore’ feels fresh, forward-looking and, above all, honest,” said NME.

Taylor and Kanye have had a fight for over 11 years, it all started when Taylor accepted the Best Female Video award for “You Belong With Me” at the MTV Video Awards and Kanye burst onto the stage and interrupted her speech.
