A healthy drink that protects the heart and relieves arthritis pain

While we recommend eating the whole fruit since it contains fiber, which slows the absorption of sugar and lowers the influence on your blood sugar level, there are some perks to drinking juice.

Different juices have unique benefits, similar to how different fruits bring different benefits, and there is one sort of juice in particular that has such a vast variety of benefits.

According to scientific evidence, tart cherry juice has certain benefits that may be beneficial to you.

Tart cherry juice improves sports performance

A meta-analysis of ten trials published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition indicated that drinking tart cherry juice (or taking powdered cherry extract) seven days to 1.5 hours before swimming events, high-intensity cycling, and full and half marathons increased endurance performance. The researchers explain the finding to the juice’s high concentration of anthocyanins, which are potent antioxidants that help reduce inflammation and increase blood flow to muscles.

Tart cherries have also been demonstrated to prevent strength loss and increase muscle recovery after intensive exercise in previous research.

Does Tart cherry juice protect your heart?

Potassium is abundant in bananas, leafy greens, beans, and nuts, and it helps to regulate blood pressure. You can also add tart cherry juice to the mix. Tart cherries’ richness of minerals including polyphenols and potassium have been shown in studies to help lower blood pressure and lessen the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Insomnia?

Tart cherry juice concentrate can help people who have trouble getting to sleep. The potential advantage of tart cherries as a natural sleep aid has been demonstrated in several studies including the elderly who suffer from insomnia. Melatonin, a hormone that regulates our sleep-wake cycle in humans, is one of the plentiful phytochemicals present in tart cherry juice.

In a randomized controlled experiment published in the European Journal of Nutrition, two groups of participants were assigned to receive tart cherry juice concentrate or a placebo drink. Researchers evaluated participants’ sleep questionnaires and tested their urine samples after seven days of this routine and discovered that those with higher melatonin in their urine reported better sleep quality and duration.

Tary cherry jouice can also ease your arthritis pain

For four months, a team of scientists had 66 patients with knee arthritis consume either 16 ounces of tart cherry juice or a placebo drink every day, then assessed their pain, stiffness, and plasma biomarkers of cartilage.

The study, which was published in Current Developments in Nutrition, discovered that drinking tart cherry juice on a regular basis reduced all of the symptoms of arthritis as well as the participants’ self-evaluation of quality of life. In other trials, drinking 16 ounces of tart cherry juice for six weeks resulted in a significant reduction in C-reactive protein (CRP), an inflammatory marker.

It protects you from gout

The anti-inflammatory properties of cherry juice or cherries may be beneficial to patients who experience recurring flare-ups of gout, a severe form of arthritis characterized by joint swelling, most commonly in the big toe joint. Gout is a condition in which the body’s excess uric acid crystallizes and deposits in the joints, producing inflammation and pain.

Numerous studies have demonstrated that cherry juice, cherries, or cherry extract may help prevent such flare-ups. In a major investigation of 633 gout patients, it was discovered that eating cherries or taking cherry extract for two days reduced the likelihood of gout attacks by 35 percent or more as compared to when no cherries were taken.
