Quercetin was also discovered to be one of the major phytochemicals that could aid in the prevention of COVID-19-induced gastrointestinal inflammation and diarrhea, particularly in the Delta and sub-variants.
With the introduction of the Omicron variant, its relevance as one of the primary COVID-19 Supplements has grown even more. According to NIH, Quercetin could be one of the potential anti-COVID-19 drugs as a phase II clinical study showed that it significantly reduces “D-Dimer levels by inhibiting disulfide isomerase (PDI) and preventing blood clotting in metastatic late-stage cancer patients (Zwicker et al., 2019). PDI is one of the factors that actives the coagulation factors secreted by thrombocyte and endothelial cells in case of vascular injury.”
US Food and Drug Administration described quercetin as GRAS status (generally recognized as safe) and it is generally taken with vitamin C and bromelain (QCB) instead of pure quercetin.
