Aspirin Cuts Stroke Risk By 50% IF Taken at a Specific Time of the Day

In the United States, more than 795,000 people have a stroke each year, with over 185,000 strokes (almost 1 among 4) occurring in persons who have already had a stroke. A large review of thousands of aspirin users revealed that taking the life-saving drug at the proper time of day can cut the risk of stroke in half.

A recent long-term study on the usage of aspirin to minimize the risk of stroke in older adults discovered that taking the painkiller at the proper time of day can cut the risk of stroke by up to 50%.

Strokes happen when blood supply to the brain is interrupted, either by a clogged artery or a burst blood vessel. Over 795,000 people in the US suffer from them each year, making them one of the most prevalent medical crises.

In order to prevent permanent damage or death, stroke victims must receive prompt medical care. Stroke kills one person every 3.5 minutes in the US, according to CDC.

A Spanish study conducted by the University of Vigo tracked the occurrence of cardiovascular death in 10,000 men based on whether they took a low dose of aspirin in the morning or evening.

They discovered that taking aspirin before bedtime cut the risk of a fatal stroke in half in this large study group.

The body’s “pharmocokinetic” process, which breaks down and distributes drugs throughout the body, improves aspirin’s effectiveness when taken at night, according to the study authors.

This permits the aspirin to fully activate by morning, when blood pressure and stress levels are typically at their peak.

Aspirin is less effective when taken in the morning since the body’s pharmocokinetic process has not yet fully kicked in.

Although aspirin is available over-the-counter as a pain reliever, you should check your doctor before using it to avoid a stroke.

Aspirin has gastrointestinal side effects ranging from cramps to stomach ulcers, which can be mitigated by taking the pain reliever with meals.

What are the symptoms of a stroke?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a simple approach for identifying stroke symptoms that has been a cornerstone of public messaging on stroke prevention for more than a decade – you must act FAST.

  • F-ace – The person’s face may have sunk on one side, they may be unable to smile, or their lips or eye may have sunk.
  • A-rms – Because of weakness or numbness in one arm, a person with a suspected stroke may not be able to lift both arms and maintain them there.
  • S-peech – Despite appearing to be awake, their speech may be slurred or garbled, or they may be unable to communicate at all; they may also have difficulty understanding what you’re saying to them.
  • T-ime – If you see any of these signs or symptoms, dial 9-1-1 straight away.
