CDC Study Has Found Another Long-term Effect of COVID-19

The new study discovered long-term health problems in many organs, like the heart, lungs, and kidneys.

Researchers have uncovered another long-term consequence of the coronavirus, which is linked to the risk of developing serious pulmonary thrombosis as well as respiratory issues.

According to a new study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in every five adult COVID-19 survivors in the United States under the age of 65 has had at least one health condition that might be classified as long COVID-19. The study also indicated that the rate is significantly greater among people 65 and older: one in four.

The study’s authors, members of the CDC’s Covid-19 Emergency Response Team, advocated “routine assessment for post-Covid conditions among persons who survive Covid-19,” according to reports.

The term “Long Covid” refers to a range of symptoms that can linger for months or even years following a coronavirus infection. Researchers discovered post-Covid health issues in a variety of organ systems, including the heart, lungs, and kidneys. The study also found problems with blood circulation, the musculoskeletal system, and the endocrine system, as well as gastrointestinal troubles, neurological problems, and psychiatric symptoms.

The researchers discovered that COVID-19 patients in both age groups had twice the chance of uninfected people experiencing respiratory symptoms and lung issues, including pulmonary embolism. Kidney failure, neurological problems, and most mental health conditions were more common in Post-Covid individuals aged 65 and older than in the younger group.

The researchers looked at roughly 2 million people’s computerized medical records, comparing those who had been infected with the coronavirus against those who had not been. Respiratory difficulties and musculoskeletal pain were the most common post-Covid symptoms, regardless of age.
