Doctor reveals a new way to cut the risk of stroke by 48%

Stroke, a type of cerebrovascular disease, is a potentially fatal and life-threatening medical emergency that occurs when blood flow to a portion of the brain is cut off.

According to statistics, nearly 75 percent of deaths from cerebrovascular diseases are caused by this condition.

However, a study reveals that daily meditation could significantly cut the risk of dying from a stroke by 48 percent.

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s researchers undertook a five-year study to determine the effect of meditation on persons who had cardiovascular problems.

The participants in the study were asked to practice transcendental meditation for 20 minutes every day.

In this meditation technique, you repeat a mantra in your head for 20 minutes a day while sitting comfortably with your eyes closed.

The mind and body can relax deeply while remaining awake in transcendental meditation.

“We hypothesised that reducing stress by managing the mind-body connection would help improve rates of this epidemic disease,” said Robert Schneider, lead researcher.

Aside from lowering the risk of stroke by 48 percent, the five-year program provided participants with a slew of other health benefits, all of which are connected to a lower risk of stroke.

People who meditated on a daily basis had a 5mm Hg drop in blood pressure.

Researchers also found that anger had “significantly” decreased.

Furthermore, the study found that people who started meditating had lower alcohol use, smoked less, and exercised more.

“Transcendental Meditation may reduce heart disease risks for both healthy people and those with diagnosed heart conditions,” commented Dr. Schneider.

He further claimed that there is a “safe” and well “established” practice that patients might easily adopt to prevent stroke in the future.

Meditating can also help you lower your blood pressure.

When you meditate, the nerve signals that synchronize heart function and blood vessel tension relax, according to a study published in the International Journal of Cardiology.

As a result, blood pressure improves and the heart’s workload lowers.

When blood pressure is high, on the other hand, a stroke is more likely to occur.

Transcendental meditation isn’t the only way to reduce your chances of having a stroke.

People who practice open-monitoring meditation for a few minutes each day might become more aware of all aspects of their surroundings.

There’s also focused-attention mediation, which involves focusing one’s attention on a single thought, image, sound, or object.

Guided meditation, on the other hand, is helpful for novices since it involves visualizing mental images while being guided by a voice.
