Doctor reveals three main symptoms of Omicron reported in unvaccinated

Unvaccinated people, on the other hand, exhibit more severe symptoms, according to her observations.

South African doctor Angelique Coetzee revealed a unique symptom that appears to be targeting unvaccinated people. This symptom is more “severe” for people who haven’t received their jab, according to her.

Dr. Angelique Coetzee, the chair of the South African Medical Association, highlighted another warning sign that could indicate the new Covid strain known as Omicron. She was the first to notice the new strain, which is thought to have originated in southern Africa.

One of the indications of the new variant, according to Dr. Coetzee, is a headache.

She also stated that many people’s symptoms appear to be mild, and that the average individual will recover in seven days.

Unvaccinated people, on the other hand, exhibit more severe symptoms, according to her observations.

Speaking to the Sky News, she said: “Unvaccinated patients seem to experience the severity of the myalgia and headache more intense than our vaccinated patients.

“Vaccinated people even recover quicker than unvaccinated people,” she added.

Another symptom connected to the new type is myalgia, which appears to be more “severe” in people who haven’t had their jab.

According to Hopkins Medicine, myalgia is a condition in which your muscles ache and hurt.

This was described by Dr. Coetzee as a feeling of “sore” muscles.

The following are the main symptoms of Omicron, according to the South African doctor:

  • Sore muscles (myalgia)
  • Headache
  • Fatigue.

She mentioned that fatigue, which is defined as tiredness, usually lasts a day or two.

Dr Coetzee said: “We ask people to get tested even if they wake up with a slight headache and are not feeling well. Please, come and let us double-check.”

She went on to say that if you have a headache or myalgia in the morning, you should wait 24 hours before having your lateral flow test (rapid antigen test).

Dr Coetzee added: “The rapid test can still be false negative in the first period, but after 24 hours up until five to six days later, the rapid test is more than sufficient to detect positive cases.

“We do, however, have patients who say they are not feeling very well, they just need to double-check, they have this headache, then we do PCR and normally that will be positive.”

According to the doctor, most patients’ symptoms appear to be comparable, however vaccinated people only appear to suffer from minor sickness of the new variant.

When it comes to the spread of the virus, she noted: “If we look at the transmissibility of the Omicron virus, it’s most probably equal currently to Delta.

“But it might be more transmissible than Delta.

“We would only know as time progresses and we reach the top of our curve regarding whether it would be more.”
