Have you ever had leftover pasta from the day before? Here are some simple and effective ways to reheat it without ending up soft or dry.
In the microwave
This is the most suitable method to reheat the pasta. However, avoid heating large portions: in this case, it is recommended to add a glass of water to the plate. Also, you shouldn’t microwave it if it contains cream-based sauces.
Place the pasta in a large bowl and cover it with plastic wrap or a sheet of damp paper. The trick is to place the doughnut-shaped pasta so that it heats evenly.
On the stove
If you want to reheat the pasta in a pan, it is necessary to first place this food in the hot water for one or two minutes.
You can also add melted butter or olive oil to the plate. And if you see that the sauce is dry, just add more sauce. Heat the pasta over low heat and stir occasionally. If necessary, you can add an egg yolk to the pan.
In the oven
Another option is to reheat the pasta in the oven. For this, it is necessary to preheat it to 180°C. Then cover the plate with aluminium foil – this trick helps retain moisture – and bake it for 15 to 20 minutes. If you see that the pasta is too dry, add a little milk or sauce.
To make sure the pasta is ready, you need to insert a metal fork into the centre of the plate and wait about 10 seconds. If it gets hot, you can start dinner now!
