According to a study, the aroma of coffee has the ability to stimulate the human brain.

Coffee is the second most consumed beverage in the world, being surpassed only by water. However, everything that is consumed in excess ends up doing harm.

Caffeine, a substance responsible for stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS), despite being regarded as a cerebral stimulant is not regarded as an addiction, since the deprivation of its consumption does not cause withdrawal symptoms caused by other stimulants, such as nicotine, for example.

This substance loved by so many, acts to accelerates the basal metabolic rate (BMR), thereby reducing the feeling of fatigue and increasing the heart rate. 

Although, drinking coffee moderately  – between three to four cups a day – is part of a balanced diet, there are, according to experts, healthier alternatives that will help you maintain and replenish energy during the day. 

Dark chocolate

Abundant in vitamins and minerals, dark chocolate activates the brain and provides energy for several hours. Additionally, the food contributes to the release of serotonin into the bloodstream – also known as the ‘happiness hormone’. 

Dried fruits

Dried fruits are full of vitamins B and magnesium. As such, its intake gives strength and energy.

Green tea

This drink has a lower caffeine content than coffee, but it gives energy without causing the frequent tremors associated with excessive coffee consumption. In addition, green tea is full of antioxidants that promote the youth of cells and protect the body from disease. 

Coldwater with Lemon / Lemonade

Cold-water with zest and lemon juice is an excellent alternative. The cold water is thermogenic, which makes the metabolism speed up, and the lemon is rich in citric acid, also contributing to the burning of calories and fat.

Mint tea

Mint tea improves breathing and calms the stomach after digestion. Mint is abundant in fiber, protein, vitamins C and D and minerals, such as magnesium, iron and potassium.
