COPD is a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease that develops over time. Many people are unaware they have it at first since it is so slow.

Many individuals don’t show any signs or symptoms until they’re in their late 40s or early 50s. Is there any way to spot the issue early?

People who are exposed to fumes from cooking and heating in poorly ventilated houses are more likely to develop COPD than nonsmokers.

COPD symptoms will progressively worsen, making everyday tasks more difficult.

COPD patients often have flare-ups in their symptoms.

A few flare-ups a year are frequent, and they usually come in the winter.

It’s critical to have this illness diagnosed as soon as possible since therapy may help halt its development.

Unfortunately, COPD symptoms seldom show until substantial lung damage has occurred.

Increased breathlessness is perhaps the most obvious sign of COPD, but this may occur primarily while exercising at initially.

You may sometimes wake up in the middle of the night feeling out of breath if you are in the early stages of the disease.

This early symptom should not be ignored since it is the most obvious sign that you have COPD.

A persistent chesty cough with phlegm that does not go away is another sign of COPD.

You may be inclined to ignore this at first, particularly if it goes away, but it might be a sign of COPD and should not be disregarded as a regular cough.

This is not typical if you have recurrent chest infections.

Another sign of COPD is persistent wheezing; if you notice this, you should see a doctor.
