Meet The Weird Fruit That Works Against Type 2 Diabetes

Studies show that this fruit not only lowers blood sugar but also restores normal levels of fatty acids and vitamin E.

Type 2 diabetes is one of the most common condition that causes an abnormally high level of sugar, or glucose, in the blood.

This is because the pancreas either doesn’t make insulin at all, doesn’t make enough insulin, or the insulin it does make doesn’t work right.

Without this mechanism, blood sugar levels could increase to risky levels. Insulin’s main function is to regulate blood sugar levels.

Although some diabetics require the use of insulin as a treatment, there are other approaches that can help control blood sugar levels, such as diet.

For instance, fruit is a good source of energy and helps to maintain normal blood sugar levels. Figs in particular have proven to be ideal for this.

Figs are a teardrop-shaped fruit popular for breakfast and cheeseboards. They have hundreds of tiny seeds inside that are about the size of your thumb and have an edible purple or green peel.

They also contain a natural hormone called abscisic acid, which controls the body’s response to sugar (glucose) and lowers inflammation.

Bring down blood sugar

One study, which looked at how figs can help control blood sugar, was published in the journal Diabetes.

Participants in the study were given 50 grams each of a glucose solution dissolved in water and a fig extract solution dissolved in water.

Consuming 100–200 milligrams of fig extract before a meal resulted in a 30–120 percent decline in blood sugar, according to the study’s authors.

Ultimately, it found that figs were “effective for managing blood sugar overall.”

Glucose sensitivity

Another mouse study examined the effects of ficusin, an extract from fig leaves, on insulin sensitivity.

Along with lowering blood sugar, researchers found that the extract helped bring fatty acid and vitamin E levels back to normal.

Numerous studies support the idea that eating fruit in moderation might help you stay healthy and have enough energy.

According to experts, this is different from the free sugar found in beverages, chocolate cakes, and cookies, as well as fruit juices and honey.

Experts say that one of the best ways to control type 2 diabetes is to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.

Other lifestyle modifications can help treat or prevent diabetes in addition to nutrition.

Both exercise and getting adequate water are essential.

Water consumption increases blood volume, which reduces the blood’s concentration of glucose and decreases blood sugar levels.

Blood sugar levels can remain within a typical, healthy range by routinely drinking water.
