Researchers have found that regular smoking reduces life expectancy by 4.7 years. Those who quit smoking on time can extend their life by 10 years.

Researchers from institutes in the United States and Canada claim that each cigarette smoked reduces lifespan by 5 minutes and 30 seconds.

“Regular smoking reduces life expectancy by 4.7 years,” the report said.

According to a study, cigarette smoking duration was significantly associated with cardiovascular disease, lung cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease mortality, whereas both the number of cigarettes smoked and the duration of cigarette smoking were significantly associated with all-cause mortality.

Cigarette smoking on average reduced life expectancy by 6.8 years, while heavy smoking by 8.8 years. Total life years lost as a result of cigar or pipe smoking were 4.7 years.

Additionally, cigarette smoking reduced disease-free life years by 5.8 years, while cigar or pipe smoking reduced disease-free life years by 5.2 years.

Stopping smoking at the age of 40 increased life expectancy by 4.6 years and disease-free life years by 3.0 years.

In another study, researchers claim that one cigarette can reduce your life by 11 minutes.

However, scientists warn that this is not reliable data and they are too optimistic.

According to the US State Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the average smoker lives 13-14 years less than those who do not have such a bad habit.

In addition, according to the head of the research group at Oxford University Richard Peto, people who quit smoking before reaching adulthood can extend their lives by 10 years.

Smoking is evil in any form. We have many examples that prove smoke damage, but the younger generation continues to take over this deadly addiction.

The main thing is the prevalence of smoking depends on the attractive advertising of cigarettes that children constantly see.
