One Popular Drink Found To Increase Risk Of Heart Attack In Young, Healthy People

Heart attacks generally occur without warning, leaving a very little window of opportunity to administer curative treatment. The key to treating the disorder is prevention, and most occurrences are thought to be preventable.

One drink, according to researchers, could raise the likelihood of an incident in young and healthy people.

Heart attacks, which are characterized by chilly sweats and a stab of pain in the chest, are commonly considered to be caused by unhealthy lifestyle decisions that gradually harm vascular health.

Alcohol is the beverage most notoriously linked to this harm. However, in recent years, additional drinks have aroused concerns about their cardiovascular effects.

It has been demonstrated that one popular beverage increases the risk of a heart attack in young, healthy individuals.

A number of things can impede blood flow to the heart, which can lead to heart attacks.

According to one body of research, excessive consumption of energy drinks may cause abrupt cardiac arrest in healthy individuals.

Caffeine content was the primary health risk associated with the drink.

It includes masked caffeine in the form of substances like guarana, which comes from a plant that is identical to the source of caffeine in coffee.

Despite the fact that drinking coffee is generally regarded as safe, higher dosages have been linked to negative effects.

However, guarana has twice the amount of caffeine that coffee beans do. Guarana can have unpredictable interactions when combined with other well-known drugs, such as ginseng and taurine, cautioned researchers.

The authors of the 2017 article observed a high prevalence of unexplained cardiac arrests in young people after consuming energy drinks” which was published in Anatolian Journal of Cardiology.

They observed that those who combined alcoholic beverages and energy drinks were particularly susceptible to the incidents.

“It seems clear that energy drinks, some beverages, and some supplements that include stimulants might lead to critical and rarely irreversible cardiovascular events in the young population,” they said.

They hypothesized that the most plausible reason was that energy drinks “lead to catastrophic events via lethal arrhythmias”.

A disorder known as arrhythmias is brought on by dysfunctional signaling that regulates heartbeats.

The heart may beat irregularly, too quickly, or too slowly as a result. When the illness is severe, the lower heart chambers may experience a rapid, disorganized flow of electrical signals.

The Mayo Clinic warns that if the heart rhythm isn’t restored within minutes, this could result in major issues and even death.

Ways to prevent heart attacks

Treatment of high blood pressure and excessive cholesterol is frequently used as preventative treatments against heart attacks.

Through a mix of exercise and a good diet, the conditions, which are major risk factors for having a heart attack, can be avoided.

Choose “plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, poultry, fish and other lean proteins, nuts, seeds and vegetable oils,” advises WebMD.

Additionally, it suggests “keeping saturated fat to less than six percent of your daily calories”.

Both alcohol and tobacco use significantly increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, although smoking is unquestionably worse than either of these activities.

Inhaling cigarette smoke damages cells, which severely damages the artery and raises your risk of suffering a heart attack.
