Although the results of the study on the sexual results of cyberpornography usage are mixed, explicitly watching such material online for a growing number of people is becoming a regular pastime.
Scientists from Laval University in Canada analyzed data from 850 porn viewers and divided the audience for adult films into three categories.
In particular, the researchers identified the following groups of porn lovers:
- Does This Mean We Stopped Being Animal and Started Being Human Due to ‘Copy Paste’ Errors?
- The One Lifestyle Choice That Could Reduce Your Heart Disease Risk By More Than 22%
- Aging: This Is What Happens Inside Your Body Right After Exercise
- Immune-Boosting Drink that Mimics Fasting to Reduce Fat – Scientists ‘Were Surprised’ By New Findings
- Gun Violence in America: What They Don’t Talk About at the Debate
- Recreational profile,
- Highly distressed non-compulsive profile,
- Compulsive profile.
Of all these groups, scientists call only one “healthy” – the category of “recreational profile.” There are 75.5% of such porn viewers. It turns out that they watch intimate videos regularly, but they are not obsessed with them, and are satisfied with their personal sex life.
The category “Highly distressed non-compulsive profile” to porn accounts for 12.7% of viewers who are not satisfied with their sex life and avoid this topic.
But 11.8% of the representatives of the “Compulsive profile” group do not engage in sexual contact and watch porn alone, which is a deviation.
Moreover, users with a compulsive profile presented lower sexual satisfaction and dysfunction and higher sexual compulsivity and avoidance. Highly distressed less active users were sexually less satisfied and reported less sexual compulsivity and more sexual dysfunction and avoidance.
A larger proportion of women and of dyadic users was found among recreational users, whereas solitary users were more likely to be in the highly distressed less active profile and men were more likely to be in the compulsive profile.
Experts came to such conclusions based on the analysis of data from 312 men, 20% of whom said they watch porn – three to five times a week.

Meanwhile, a similar study with women showed that the fair sex can watch adult films as much as they want without losing interest in a living partner.
