Skipping breakfast can increase your risk of having a heart attack

According to a study, our diet choices can help determine if we are more likely to have a heart attack. There are certain things we can do to improve our nutrition and reduce the danger.

The way we live, especially our eating habits, can influence our overall health.

Much of it is due to genetics, and some illnesses or ailments are inherited, but what we eat and drink also plays a role.

Too much of one item, or too little of another, can make us sick in a variety of ways.

Of course, there are a number of diet options available to help us minimize our risk of developing a significant health problem such as a heart attack.

According to studies, the manner we eat breakfast could cause us trouble in the future.

Can skipping breakfast raise your risk of having a heart attack?

A recently published study found that men who skip breakfast are more likely to suffer a heart attack.

The paper suggested that men who skip breakfast are 27 percent more likely to have a heart attack or acquire heart disease.

Other health concerns are said to arise as a result of this prevalent eating habit.

“Men who skip breakfast are more likely to gain weight, to develop diabetes, to have hypertension and to have high cholesterol,” highlighted senior author of the study Eric Rimm.

Several studies have been conducted on this subject.

Another American study found that “skipping breakfast was linked to obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke risk and people not getting enough vitamins and minerals from their diet.

“One study found that 74% of breakfast skippers did not meet two-thirds of the (American) Recommended Dietary Allowance for vitamins and minerals, compared with 41% of those who consumed breakfast,” said the study authors.

What are the healthiest breakfast foods to consume to lower your risk of having a heart attack?

There are many ways to make a healthier breakfast.

If you have difficulty eating breakfast in a healthy manner or do not eat it at all, there are specific foods you can eat to ensure you are getting the most out of your diet.

You should strive to restrict your intake of sweets and refined carbs, as well as salt and processed foods. A fry-up every now and then is a treat, but it should not be done on a regular basis.

Eat more nuts and seeds, or berries and fruit, to have the finest diet possible.

The importance of whole grains and non-starchy vegetables cannot be overstated. Any meats, as well as dairy products, should be low in fat.

Here are a few breakfast options for you to consider:

  • Porridge with nuts and berries
  • Yoghurt
  • Quinoa
  • Hard-boiled or poached eggs
  • Avocado on whole grain toast
