Since the beginning of the Covid, countless tips and practices claiming to be virus remedies have been brought up from time to time.

Many of these have been proven false, however, a recent study claims that one specific drink can minimize the risk of contracting Covid.

The data for the study, which was published in Frontiers In Nutrition, came from the UK Biobank database and was analyzed at China’s Shenzhen Kangning Hospital.

Here’s all you need to know about the study and which sorts of alcohol, if any, can help you avoid contracting Covid.

Drinking red wine could lower the chance of Covid infection, according to the analysis, which looked at drinking patterns and Covid history during the pandemic.

According to the findings, people who drink five or more glasses of red wine each week have a 17 percent lower risk of contracting the virus.

Scientists believe that the lower risk is due to the drink’s high polyphenol content, which has been shown to aid with the flu and other respiratory conditions.

White wine and champagne were also found to reduce the risk of contracting Covid, with those who consumed one to four glasses of each beverage per week having an 8% lower risk of infection.

However, there was some bad news for pint aficionados in the report. It found that those who drank any amount of beer or cider had a 28 percent increased risk of contracting Covid, while those who drank five or more glasses of spirits per week also had an elevated risk.

While some alcoholic beverages reduced Covid risk, the research advised against heavy drinking of any kind of alcohol during the pandemic, as those who consume double the recommended amount have a higher overall chance of contracting the virus.
