According to most dental experts, brushing teeth, flossing and avoiding sugary snacks or foods are the best ways to keep gum diseases away from you. But this is not case..
Dr. Khaled Kasem from Impress Orthodontics says there are many other ways to achieve good dental health – not just the brushing your teeth, flossing and avoiding sugary snack.
While speacking to Express, the doctor highlighted that food plays an important part in dental care. For instance, dairy products – especially cheese – can improve the condition of your teeth as they are rich in calcium and vitamin D.
And if you’d like whites teeth, Dr. Kasam has got some good news.
Another surprising way to improve your dental health is to eat chocolate – dark chocolate, to be specific.
“Powerful anti-bacterial agents” found in dark chocolate can help to fight cavities, said Dr. Kasam.
Another good bite to consider is an apple that can also increase saliva production.
Increased saliva “serves as a protector of our teeth and helps to naturally remove dental plaque”, Dr Kasam explained.
Some fruits can also be beneficial, such as strawberries and blueberries – perfect for adding on to your morning porridge.
As for blueberries, these are considered “one of our greatest allies in preventing gum diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis”.
Dr. Kasam also added that celery “is one of the industry’s most recommended vegetables due to its natural anti-bacterial properties”.
Taking good care of your dental and oral health is key to help avoid your teeth from falling out.
