The “magic” Herb That Regulates Cholesterol, Sugar – Boosts Testosterone

Many people don’t know about a herb that has multiple health benefits and can be used as a spice or as a supplement. A beneficial substance that is gaining popularity.

Trigonella, also known as Fenugreeks, is a herb that many people are unfamiliar with, but it has been rapidly gaining popularity in recent years due to its health benefits. It’s a clover-like herb and is most widespread in southern Europe and western Asia. The bittersweet flavor of the spices derived from its leaves and seeds is similar to maple syrup or burnt sugar.

Its positive characteristics have an impact on many aspects of human health. It is supposed to lower cholesterol levels in the blood, however, it also raises testosterone levels in men. It also makes a significant contribution to the management of type 2 diabetes.

Although research into the benefits of trigonella is still in its early stages, certain scientific investigations have indicated the following advantages:

Lowers blood sugar

A meta-analysis of 12 research published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology confirmed this quality. Controlling blood sugar levels is critical for persons with type 2 diabetes, because elevated blood sugar over time can lead to a variety of health problems.

In particular, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the main threats are:

  • Heart disease
  • Kidney Disease
  • Diabetic neuropathy
  • Tooth decay, caries and gum disease
  • Loss of hearing and vision

While nutritional supplements can cause kidney and liver problems, no negative effects were discovered in the case of trigonella, according to the same study. Indigestion, on the other hand, was the most prevalent symptom discovered.

Regulates cholesterol

Trigonella has been linked to controlling cholesterol levels in the blood, which means it lowers the risk of heart disease and stroke.

A meta-analysis published in Phytotherapy Research in 2020 indicated that trigonella supplements decreased levels of total and “bad” LDL cholesterol and increased levels of “good” HDL cholesterol.

May increase breast milk production

Trigonella has long been used to promote lactation in breastfeeding women in areas such as southern Europe, Asia, and North Africa, according to the National Center for Complementary and Integrated Health (NCCIH).

Some recent study has converged on the herb’s advantages in breast milk. Simultaneously, it was discovered that other plants, such as dates, were more effective than trigonella.

However, it is underlined that it may have certain adverse effects. In a 2018 study published in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, researchers interviewed 65 breastfeeding women and 56 health care professionals and discovered that consuming trigonella supplements may induce increased thirst, perspiration, and other side effects.

Boosts testosterone levels in men

Trigonella increases testosterone levels in men, according to a study published in Phytotherapy Research in 2020. Low testosterone causes irritation, poor concentration, and an increased risk of bone fractures, therefore this quality is crucial.

According to Harvard Medical School, testosterone levels in males decline by roughly 1% to 2% per year as they age. In fact, it has been discovered that more than a third of males over the age of 45 have testosterone levels that are lower than normal.

However, in a 2017 study funded by a herbal supplement firm and published in the International Journal of Medical Sciences, 50 men aged 35 to 65 assessed the effectiveness of a trigonella pill. In 45 out of 50 people, testosterone levels increased by up to 46%.

Other advantages, according to the same study, include improved mood, mental alertness, sexual drive, and increased sperm count, a fertility predictor.
