Visible signs you’re missing vitamin D

Published on

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin found in few foods and is also synthesized in the skin by ultraviolet rays.

It plays an important role in the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the body.

Chronic vitamin D deficiency in young children is associated with a high risk of developing diabetes mellitus, obesity, autoimmune diseases, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, psoriasis, atopic diseases, and inflammatory bowel diseases in the future.

According to Doctors, a lack of vitamin D in the body can be recognized by noticeable softening of the bones and pain at night.

It is noted that in the early stages, the deficiency usually develops without symptoms and can only be detected with the help of X-rays or diagnostic studies.

Signs of a vitamin D deficiency are dull aching pain in the pelvis, lower back, legs, hips, and ribs that is worse at night or when pressure is applied to the bones.

Experts emphasized that the pathology is dangerous for the elderly, as it causes fractures and osteoporosis.

A daily prophylactic intake of vitamin D will help prevent deficiency. Proper use will ensure bone density.

These are some other signs of a lack of vitamin D

Low immunity

One of the most important functions of vitamin D is to keep your immune system strong, something of particular importance in times of coronavirus. If you get sick often, low vitamin D levels may be a contributing factor.

Fatigue and tiredness

Behind constant fatigue and tiredness there can be many reasons, and vitamin D deficiency is one of them. Lack of this nutrient could even cause insomnia.

Slow healing

Vitamin D increases the production of crucial elements in the formation of new skin in the healing process. If you have wounds that take a long time to heal, you may be lacking vitamin D.

Depression

A constant pessimism and a more depressed mood is one more of the symptoms that warn of insufficient levels of vitamin D.

Hair loss

One of the most common causes of hair loss is stress, but it could also be the result of a nutrient deficiency, particularly vitamin D. Having too little can cause your hair to fall out, especially if you’re a woman.

Few studies have also highlighted that 80% of COVID-19 patients were diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency and it also helps to slow down the progression of type 2 diabetes.
