Thanks to the installation of ultraviolet light, leeks have become similar to alien plants.

In the Netherlands, artist and designer Daan Roosegaard transformed a two-hectare leek field into a light installation.

The futuristic location on leek field, spanning 20,000-square-meter was created using photobiological technology and distinct “light recipes” technologies. The project took two years to complete.

According to the artist, the Netherlands is one of the world’s largest vegetable producers. At the same time, local residents practically do not pay attention to the huge areas that feed them.

“The project aims to prove that the landscape is a living work of art,” says the author.

The artist emphasizes that his idea is not only “beautiful” but also useful.

Blue, red and ultraviolet light plant accelerates crop growth and eliminates the need for chemicals. This gives a new meaning to the word “agriculture”, rethinking the landscape as a living work of art, says the artist.
