Burger King faces a furious backlash after tweeting “Women belong in the kitchen”

The British branch of the American fast-food chain Burger King found itself at the center of a scandal after a series of tweets on the occasion of INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY, on March 8.

On Twitter, the network posted “Women belong in the kitchen.” The thought was expanded in the following message: “… If they want to, of course. Yet only 20% of chefs are women. We’re on a mission to change the gender ratio in the restaurant industry by empowering female employees with the opportunity to pursue a culinary career.”

As noted by The Sun, the company has introduced a new training program specifically for female employees.

Nevertheless, many users of the social network did not appreciate the approach to the presentation of the new program, criticizing Burger King, calling this PR move one of the worst in history. Some users promised to no longer eat at the chain’s restaurants at all.

Fast-food chain KFC made fun of the tweet of competitors, responding to it with a picture with the caption “The best time to delete this post was right after it was posted. The second time is right now.”
