On March 11, a 10-second video for “Everydays: The first 5000 days” was auctioned for nearly $ 70 million.

This was reported on the Facebook of the Christie’s auction house.

Bidding started at just $ 100 per lot for Beeple’s and ended on March 11 at a whopping $ 69,346,250.

“This was the first purely digital artwork based on NFT technology – first purely digital Non-Fungible Token (NFT) to be sold by a major auction house and set additional world records, including the highest price for any digital artwork, the highest price for any lot in an online auction, and the highest price for any online auction to date, ” wrote the auction house on Facebook.

“Not unlike the advent of Street Art as a blue chip collecting category, NFT-based art is on the threshold of becoming the next ingeniously disruptive force in the art market,” says Noah Davis, a specialist in post-war and contemporary. “Christie’s is proud to be in the vanguard of this exhilarating movement.”

Davis briefed Beeple as “a brash pioneer among digital artists” and called “Everydays — The First 5000 Days” a “monumental work.”
