Desire to become parents in this Gay male penguin couple is so high that last year also they had tried to pull some eggs, but unfortunately, the egg didn’t hatch.

At the Dierenpark Zoo in Amersfoort, African gay penguins stole an egg from a pair of lesbian penguins. Moreover, they did it again, reports DailyMail.

They did the same thing last November with another couple but their efforts were wasted as the egg didn’t hatch that time and turned out to be empty.

According to Sander Drost, zookeeper, their dreams may not materialize once again as the stolen eggs are from a couple of lesbian female penguins so, fertilization has not taken place. While the penguins do not know about this, they take turns incubating the stolen egg.

Mr. Drost further informed that the gay penguins are the dominant couple among the 17 penguins in their enclosure. Whereas every other couple has single shelter they have ‘commandeered’ two of them.

Now without their eggs, the female couple is expected to build a new nest and fill it shortly, as penguins can breed twice every year.

The zookeeper explained the couple from whom the egg was stolen last November moved on quickly and had new eggs soon after the incident.

This is not the first incident of its kind; there have been other such egg-stealing occurrences at different zoos. For example, Oceanografic Aquarium in Valencia, Spain, saw a similar incident where two female penguins, Electra and Viola, hatched other couple’s egg.

In 2018, another homosexual ‘power couple’, named Sphen and Magic, were able to hatch their first egg in Sydney. Since then they proved themselves to be great parents and have been taking care of the chick that has been named Sphengic.

Homosexuality is fairly common among over 450 species of animals.
