In a recent interview, President Joe Biden said that the Chinese leader Xi Jinping does not have a democratic bone. He also anticipated an ‘extreme competition’ between the two countries.

The ongoing cold tussle between two major world powers has upped yet another level with Biden’s sweeping remark. In an excerpt of a CBS interview that was aired on Sunday, Biden has foreseen that the country’s rivalry with China will turn into an ‘extreme competition‘ rather than a conflict.

President Biden, in the interview, said that his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping does not have a ‘democratic bone‘ but does not mean to criticize him.

“He’s very tough. He doesn’t have — and I don’t mean it as a criticism, just the reality — he doesn’t have a democratic, small D, bone in his body,” he said.

Biden also mentioned that he has not spoken with Xi Jinping after becoming the US President, although he has had private meetings with the Chinese leader, during his vice-presidency.

The US President also highlighted that the two countries will not necessarily have a conflict, but there would be ‘extreme competition’ amongst. He also stated that he won’t be doing it the Trump-way, and will focus on the ‘international rules of the road.’

In Washington, China is considered as a number one strategic opponent of the United States, and a major threat on the world stage.

Former US President Donald Trump had exercised open confrontation with China.

His verbal attacks had resulted in a trade war between the two countries resulting in an enormous trade deficit with China. Most of the notorious measures undertaken during the presidency of Trump have been effectively pulled apart by Biden.

Biden has also made a systematic reiteration of the fact that the United States will be actively watching for its own interests.
