New York reaches 122 thousand contagions and exceeds 4000 deaths

The head of the Public Health Service Commissioner said that the next few weeks could witness a tragedy equivalent to "the bombing of Pearl Harbor" or the "attacks of September 11, 2001".

The governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, reported this Sunday that the national epicenter of the coronavirus epidemic reached 122,000 infections and exceeded 4,000 deaths; half of national cases and almost half of deaths across the United States.

A total of 4,519 people died in New York from the disease, 594 more in the last 24 hours, while the number of cases increased by 8,327.

Despite the daily decline from Saturday’s numbers (630), Cuomo warned that it is still too early to set a trend, although he reported the appearance of a new focus on Long Island that appears to have moved from New York City.

The governor confirmed that state hospitals are collapsed. “This crisis produced tremendous pressure on the medical system. We ask hospitals to do more than ever, bearing in mind that they were already working beyond their means before,” the president regretted.

The head of the country’s Public Health Service Commissioner and general surgeon, Vice Admiral Jerome Adams, warned a few hours ago that the country was heading for “the hardest and saddest moments” since the start of the pandemic.

Adams, in an interview with Fox News, did not skimp on comparisons and assured that the next few weeks could witness a tragedy equivalent to “the bombing of Pearl Harbor” or the “attacks of September 11, 2001”.

“But I want the Americans to understand that, as difficult as it is next week, there is a light at the end of the tunnel,” said the official.
