The U.S. president who has been accused of introducing instability in the world geopolitical scene was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 2021 by a Norwegian MP
Norwegian MP and member of the parliamentary committee for the chairman of the NATO parliamentary session, Christian Tubrink-Gide, told Fox News that he is not a supporter of Donald Trump.
But it did not stop him from formally nominating the US president for the Nobel Peace Prize to the award committee for his role in the UAE-Saudi Arabia agreement.
“For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees,” Tybring-Gjedde stated in a comment to FOX News.
In his official proposal, the Norwegian MP adds to Trump’s achievements his help in facilitating contact between the two sides in the dispute between Pakistan and India over the disputed province of Kashmir.
This is the second time Tubrick-Gide has nominated Trump for the Nobel Prize. The first was in 2018 on the occasion of his meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.
This is not the first time Trump has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. In February 2016, the Norwegian Peace Research Institute proposed the candidacy of the American politician and tycoon for “his vigorous ideology of peace that he uses as a weapon of deterrence against radical Islam, Daesh, nuclear Iran, and communist China,” although this is not an official nomination.
