Top U.S. epidemiologist warns President could relapse

The leading US expert on infectious diseases, Anthony Fauci, believes that President Donald Trump could suffer a relapse in the coming days.

In an interview with CNN, Fauci acknowledged that Trump, discharged Monday, “looks good.”

“He looks fine. The issue is that it is still early enough in the disease,” he added.

Fauci, who heads the US National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, recalled that “Sometimes when you’re five to eight days in you can have a reversal.”

President Donald Trump has left Walter Reed Medical Center and moved to the White House, where he will continue to recover from COVID-19.

According to his medical team, Trump met all the criteria to be discharged from the hospital and his condition improved since he was diagnosed Thursday night.

Trump, in a tweet published about 20 minutes before leaving the hospital, assured that he will return to the electoral campaign “soon.”
