US President Donald Trump announced the construction of a protective wall in Colorado, but then clarified that it was a joke, Western media reported on Thursday.
“We are building a wall on the border of New Mexico and we are building a wall in Colorado. We are building a beautiful wall that is large, really effective, that cannot be climbed, cannot be circumvented,” Trump said during a campaign speech in Pittsburgh.
The public was wary of the statement by the US president.
“It’s kind of weird … Colorado doesn’t border Mexico. It’s good that Colorado now has free kindergartens for the whole day, so our children can learn the basics of geography,” state governor Jared Polis tweeted.

A few hours later, Trump himself explained on Twitter that he spoke of the construction of the wall in Colorado as a joke.
(Kiddingly) We’re building a Wall in Colorado”(then stated, “we’re not building a Wall in Kansas but they get the benefit of the Wall we’re building on the Border”) refered to people in the very packed auditorium, from Colorado & Kansas, getting the benefit of the Border Wall!

The construction of the wall on the southern border with Mexico was one of the key promises of the Trump presidential campaign in 2016. So he wanted to stop the flow of illegal migrants who arrive from Mexico to the United States.
In September, the U.S. House of Representatives voted against Trump’s state of emergency order, which he issued in order to receive funds for the construction of a wall on the border with Mexico.
