Trump’s 9 bizarre statements about the coronavirus

Published on

Some refer to the “presidential insult” and the following statements probably reinforce their view

The most powerful leader in the world first failed to protect his country from the coronavirus (as evidenced by the deaths that have exceeded 200,000) and then failed to protect himself from it.

His statements from the beginning of the pandemic have been shockingly bizarre. Here are the 9 bizarre statements from the President of the USA:

Donald Trump, January 22: “No, we’re not at all. And we have it totally under control.”

Trump, February 27: “It’s going to disappear. One day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”

Trump, March 15: “This is a very contagious virus. It’s incredible. But it’s something that we have tremendous control over.”

Trump, April 23: “And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute,” said Trump. “And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because, you see, it gets in the lungs, and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So, it’d be interesting to check that.”

[Perhaps the most outrageous statement made by the US President during a briefing in the White House on the evolution of the pandemic, which was attended by his medical advisers and those responsible for the country’s health response]

Trump, May 21: “I did wear one. I had it on before; I wore one on in this back area. But I didn’t want to give the press the pleasure of seeing it”.

Trump, June 21: “Here’s the bad part. When you test, when you do testing to that extent you’re going to find more people, you’re going to find more cases. So, I said to my people: Slow the testing down, please.”

Trump, July 22: “I say, ‘It’s going to disappear.’ And they say, ‘Oh, that’s terrible.’ … Well, it’s true. I mean, it’s going to disappear.”

Trump, August 5: “It will go away like things go away. No question in my mind, it will go away.”

Trump, September 29: “We’re weeks away from a vaccine. We’re doing therapeutics already. Fewer people are dying when they get sick. Far fewer people are dying. We’ve done a great job.”
