“Rico’s care team made up a list of his favorite foods for his fifth birthday,” Angela Hatke, the Cincinnati Zoo’s marketing coordinator said.
“Our nutritionist put the food together for us.
“All the animals in the video are ambassadors at our zoo,” she continued
“There’s Zulu the lady ross’s turaco, Lucille the bearcat, Frankie the bat-eared fox, Arlo the savannah monitor, and Sal the tamandua.
“They go out to educational spaces.
“They’re mostly hands-on animals and they all have a close relationship with our care team.”
For Rico, who is nocturnal, the party’s 10 am start time was well past his bedtime, but once it got started, he was full of good cheer.
“We had to wake him up for his party and he was a little sleepy, but he couldn’t get enough of the cake pops,” Hatke added.
