The new drug, according to the scientist, fights against the virus and restores body cells.
One of the developers of the Novichok agent(a group of nerve agents, some of which are binary chemical weapons), Leonid Rink is planing to launch a drug named Immofon, capable of neutralizing the cytokine storm that has caused numerous deaths in COVID-19 patients
“It works against viral diseases and regenerates cells after the reaction of the immune system, that is, it eliminates the cytokine storm that, in the opinion of many experts, is one of the causes of mortality from COVID-19,” Rink explained.
The new drug, according to the chemist, is based on an antileprosy synthesized in the Soviet Union in 1967, Diucifon, but it dissolves well in water and plasma unlike the prototype.
It combines dapsone with two methyluracil molecules that enhance metabolism in tissues and stimulate the regeneration process.
In addition to COVID-19, the drug could be used in the treatment of lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, allergies, leukemias, and lung diseases.

The scientist noted that the drug was tested on 700 elderly volunteers.
“There was not a single severe stage and not a single death after infection,” Rink said, speaking of the results of drug testing.
