Elasticsearch has released the first beta version of its new Elastic Enterprise Search as a sneak preview. As a central search engine, it should provide fast access to all corporate data – regardless of which applications or tools the data is on-premise or in the cloud. In addition, Elastic Enterprise Search should be flexibly adapted to the needs of different users and departments in the company.

Any content, flexible search

Based on the features known by Elasticsearch, such as simple data indexing, relevance algorithms, search history, autocompletion, speech analysis and type tolerance, the new enterprise search promises high speed and scalability. A wide range of data storage and sources – including documents, pull requests, issues, tickets, contracts, tables, etc. – can be searched without the need for application-specific configurations.

Already the presented beta version integrates a number of tools and cloud services like Google Drive, GitHub, Dropbox or Salesforce. Via a custom connector framework, additional sources can be connected via data synchronization. So-called privacy groups and the individually adjustable search relevance make it possible to adapt Elastic Enterprise Search to the requirements of individual employees or company divisions. For example, developers may prefer to access search results from sources such as GitHub, whereas sensitive personal data may only be shared with HR personnel.

The beta version is now available for test purposes for download. The installation uses Java 8 or Java 11 as well as a cluster of Elasticsearch 6.7.1. ahead.
