Say goodbye to Microsoft’s MSDN magazine in November

Published on

The November issue will be the last: at the end, the Microsoft project linked to the MSDN magazine addressed to the developer community.

Launched more than three decades ago by the Redmond group with the aim of cementing the relationship with those involved in software development, the project linked to the MSDN magazine (Microsoft Developer Network) is about to reach the end of the line. It will happen within the year. The announcement comes directly from the official Microsoft blog.

After more than three decades of providing technical guides to the Microsoft developer community, the MSDN magazine will publish its latest issue in November. All previous releases will be archived and available online.

Microsoft, goodbye to MSDN Magazine

Initially there were two magazines, Microsoft Systems Journal and Microsoft Internet Developer, brought together under the same hat starting in 2000, with a publication then entirely dedicated to the Windows ecosystem that was preparing to face enormous changes (not always positive or painless). The company’s commitment to supporting developers will obviously not be interrupted and will continue through web and online channels such as the docs.microsoft.com site.

The subscribers to MSDN you have subscribed (in the US is distributed the paper version) will receive a refund calculated according to the already paid out and not received. So Microsoft dismisses an initiative that has accompanied the last decades of its history.

We sincerely appreciate your faithful and passionate reading, thanking you for supporting the evolution of the Microsoft platform over the years. A big thank you also goes to the hundreds of authors who contributed to the original MSDN Magazine content.

In any case, the site that collects past releases remains online, many of which are available for download in PDF format (as .chm files for those prior to 2009).
