WhatsApp Beta is now compatible with animated Gboard stickers

Published on

Almost a year ago WhatsApp added support for animated stickers, but it wasn’t until a couple of months ago that the popular messaging client began allowing users to import or create their own animated stickers through third-party applications.

Now WhatsApp goes one step further by finally adding support for animated Gboard stickers. Of course, at the moment only WhatsApp Beta is supported.

Animated Gboard stickers on WhatsApp

Since the beginning of 2019, WhatsApp was compatible with Gboard stickers, but not with Google’s animated keyboard stickers, so this was a compatibility that many users had been waiting for for months.

Until now, if you wanted to share an animated Gboard sticker on WhatsApp, it was shared as an animated GIF, but this with the latest beta has changed. Now the animated stickers of Gboard are shared as stickers and not as GIFs.

To share an animated sticker from Gboard, you just have to click on the “Stickers” icon in the upper toolbar of the keyboard and click on some of the hundreds of animated emojis offered by the Google keyboard.

Currently, WhatsApp has 24 packages of animated stickers, but thanks to this new integration with the Google keyboard, users can use the 60 packages of animated stickers from Gboard. It is expected that in a few weeks this compatibility will reach the whole world.
