Of all tennis players, only Swiss Roger Federer was able to surpass Osaka in terms of total income for the year. He earned $ 106.3 million.

Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka topped the Forbes ranking of the highest-paid female athletes over the past year. The rating was published on the website of the publication on Monday, August 17.

It is clarified that the rating takes into account not only prize money but also the income of athletes from advertising, as well as sponsorship contracts.

During the year, Osaka earned $ 37.4 million, of which the 22-year-old athlete received $ 3.4 million as prize money, and the remaining $ 34 million – under contracts with sponsors.

American tennis player Serena Williams earned $ 1.4 million less over the past year.

“Both athletes have surpassed the record set in 2015 by the retired Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova – $ 29.7 million,” the report says.

Third place in the ranking was taken by Australian Ashley Barty – $ 13.1 million, followed by Romanian Simona Halep – $ 10.9 million, Canadian Bianca Andreescu $ 8.9 million, Spanish Garbin Mugurusa $ 6.6 million, Ukrainian Elina Svitolina 6, $ 4 million, American Sofia Kenin $ 5.8 million, German Angelique Kerber $ 5.3 million. In tenth place – American football player Alex Morgan – $ 4.6 million.

In 2019, Osaka was ranked second in a similar ranking by Forbes. Topping the list then was American tennis player Serena Williams.

Osaka is ranked tenth in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings with five WTA titles. She is the winner of the 2019 Australian Open and the 2018 US Open.
