Elisabetta is stainless and record-breaking. On his reign is the longest in British history: ascended the throne on February 6, 1952. As well as her marriage to Prince Philip (97 years) has lasted for over 70 years. The secret of its longevity lies in a special diet that also includes alcoholic aperitifs.
In its long existence, there is an object that has accompanied it for over 65 years. This is a pair of pearl earrings that the Queen loves to wear often. He also brought them during the Holy Thursday service in the chapel of St. George at Windsor Castle.
Although she has the most precious jewels available , including the tiaras lent to Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and Eugenia of York , Elisabetta prefers this simple but elegant pair of earrings, a real paspourtous with her beloved complete with bright colors.
Known in Britain as Queen Mary’s Button Earrings , they have a diamond topped over the pearl. Elizabeth brings them both during her official duties and on special occasions such as the wedding of William and Kate or the wedding of Eugenia of York.
The earrings belonged to the collection of Elisabetta ‘s grandmother, Queen Maria, who died in 1953. The latter wore them before her marriage with King George, in 1893.
Elizabeth received a pair of earrings similar to those of her grandmother, known as Devonshire pearls, as a wedding gift . But these have larger diamonds.
If on April 21 the Queen celebrates in a private way, in June there will be the second birthday of the Sovereign. This time the celebrations will be public, when there will be Trooping the Color, the military parade that the Royal Family observes from the balcony.
