OnePlus strengthens its cybersecurity and launches the new Bug Bounty Program

Published on

OnePlus, to strengthen its commitment to cybersecurity launches two interesting initiatives: the new Bug Bounty Program and the partnership with the HackerOne security platform. The goal is to increase user protection from cyber threats.

OnePlus really cares about the privacy of all the information our users entrust to us. The two projects demonstrate OnePlus’ commitment to protecting user data through safer data systems and lifecycles.

Pete Lau, CEO and founder of OnePlus, said.

OnePlus Bug Bounty Program

The new OnePlus Security Response Center was created to provide security experts who detect and report potential threats and problems that could affect the security of OnePlus bug bounty systems.

Academics and security professionals will be involved in the project, which seeks to proactively preserve users’ privacy and security: security researchers from around the world will be able to search and report their findings or suspicions through the new bug bounty, to the official OnePlus website, the OnePlus community forum and to OnePlus applications.

The reports will then be reviewed by the OnePlus technical experts. Qualifying bug report rewards will range from $ 50 to $ 7,000, depending on the potential impact of the threat.

OnePlus partnership with HackerOne

HackerOne is renowned vulnerability coordination and bug bounty platform powered by ethical hackers connecting companies with penetration testers and computer security researchers. With this collaboration, OnePlus will be able to draw on a vast network of researchers, academics and independent security experts, to bring out the most relevant vulnerabilities and potential threats to OnePlus systems before they can be exploited by external actors.

The collaboration with HackerOne will start as a pilot program at first, inviting selected researchers to test OnePlus systems against potential threats, then a public version of the program is scheduled to start in 2020.
